Wet Wilderness Wanderer returns - 18th Sep 2012

Dusky Sound, Fiordland I've recently returned from an amazing 5-day trip into Dusky Sound, Wet Jacket Arm, Breaksea Sound then north into Doubtful Sound with Bradshaw Arm and Hall Arm included.    Very wet weather did not deter the intrepid traveller.   Donning wet weather gear and gumboots with camera for many on-shore excursions by tender boat from the Milford Wanderer in all these areas has provided me with much fresh resource material and inspiration for painting.

The Fiords and Sounds during this wet weather were made up of many shades of grey with only brief highlights of sunshine at times.   However, stunning rainbows, lightning, thunder and wonderful rays of light across the mountains, bush and water with abundantly full waterfalls were all breathtaking indeed.   A trip I would recommend for anyone to experience.  Now I know what the early explorers saw and fell in awe of.  Paintings will develop so watch this space.
